In our search for manufacturers, we’ve almost reached our limits. On the one hand, people have told us we’re mad.
Many people felt that our requirements for a laser system were impossible to meet. Too extensive, too complicated, and not found in standard industrial processes.
On the other hand, it’s quite clear that no one had ever thought of creating such large laser engravings that fill the entire surface.
Even though the manufacturers of the laser systems explored every possible option, they only offered us impractical solutions, such as piecing images together bit by bit, or putting up with blurred edges and fuzzy images.
Many laser companies were also unwilling to go the extra mile for a small start-up and adapt their technology for that purpose.

For this, we owe the engineers our utmost respect and gratitude today. It’s also brilliant that their support and close contact have continued to this day.
The result is a laser technology developed exclusively for TYPEMYKNIFE® that meets our standards. All requirements have been fully met.
We can engrave images and text onto a knife blade up to almost 40 cm in length. All in a single laser pass, without the need to reposition or move the knife.
The image is sharp across the entire surface. There is no blurring at the edges. The image does not become larger towards the edges.
Our marking laser produces a deep black laser engraving. It is so fine that it does not create any differences in height between the image and the blade.
It is scratch-resistant. The laser engraving remains intact during normal kitchen use. It takes several hours for acid to start corroding the engraving.
It does not stain when cutting fruit or any other food. The cut surface remains unchanged.
Heat absorption is very low. Even thin blades, such as filleting knives, do not warp.
