Misericordia – The armor breaker, a secret weapon from the Middle Ages
The Armor Crusher is a stabbing weapon originally developed in the Middle Ages to pierce chain mail.
At the beginning of the Renaissance, the fighting style changed from chain armor to plate armor. Instead of a blow, the sword becomes a pure thrusting weapon.
The additional armor-piercing dagger was wielded in the other hand.
With its reinforced tip, for example, when the sword was lost in combat, it was thrust into the opponent’s armor.
This reinforced tip with a rhombus-shaped cross-section is specially designed on the armor-piercing knife from the TYPEMYKNIFE knife manufacturer.
The blade, handcrafted by Jürgen Musch in the Stauferschmiede in Schwäbisch Gmünd, is made of file steel.
The hardness of the blade steel is rated at 64°HRC. The armour-piercing tip with its rhombic cross-section is beautifully worked out.
Various motifs are etched into the surface of the blade, as is usual with so-called Latin knives.
The inscriptions read quae nocent docent – from harm one learns. On the other side of the blade oderint dum metuant – they may hate me if only they fear me.

The guard is a rhombic body pierced by an internal steel axis, covered with ornamented silver balls.
The heavily decorated end pieces wear lapislazuli capuchons set in gold.
The walnut handle is conical, twisted and fluted. Silver cord wire is applied to the depths of the grooves.
As the highlight of this aesthetically sophisticated piece of jewelry, the handle ends in a pompous crown, which is made of silver, decorated with gold and set with precious stones.
The crown is adorned with six sapphire cabuchons. A large amethyst hemisphere is hidden under the silver crown.
