Benjamin and his brother Christian, the Maerz & March in Bietigheim-Bissingen. Two brothers share a passion for cuisine and innovation.
We at TYPEMYKNIFE wanted to take a closer look and traveled to Bietigheim-Bissingen to visit.
The Maerz & Maerz
When two brothers describe themselves as creative, free and unbound, the result is usually a different path than moving on well-trodden paths.
The Rose in the center of Bietigheim-Bissingen, 20 years of classic Southern German cuisine of celebrated roast Swabian hospitality.
A formative time that the parents left to their sons. So what could be more obvious than to follow in the footsteps of your parents and carry the legacy into a new century.
Both his sons, Benjamin and Christian, completed their training in their parents’ company. From 2013 the brothers then continued and expanded the company on their own.
What develops from this deserves a lot of respect.
With the enthusiasm of the youth and with a very large portion of diligence, commitment and above all creativity, the brothers have succeeded in creating a nationally recognized gastronomic offer from the Hotel Rose.
Benjamin Maerz the heart of a star kitchen
Taught from scratch from my father, a tough time. Benjamin describes his life as an exceptional career.
Through self-study of the art of cooking and never-ending interest, something has emerged that is reflected in national awards.
In the morning to the university and studying food management at the DHBW Bad Mergentheim. To meet the demands of the guests in the kitchen in the evening and the requirements of the university at night.
A hard program that has paid off.
Entering the Olympic of chefs with the nobility of a Michelin star in 2013 as proof of the effort was worth it. Since that time, Maerz & March without interruption with this award.

Christian Maerz, the sommelier and restaurant specialist
It quickly became clear to him that he and his brother would continue the legacy created by their parents.
Is it his passion to give his brother’s menu creations the necessary touch of perfection with the right drink recommendations.
As a sommelier, regardless of whether the craft beer recommendation or the right fine wine is served with the menu is his passion.
He values his own assessment and likes to be inspired by impressions of the scene.

Star gastronomy is pure team sport, which has to be played with an extraordinary amount of creativity and passion. This requires a perfectly coordinated team in the kitchen and service.
This score must be re-performed daily. The Maerz brothers seem to have a knack for good team spirit. You can see it in the faces of your proud employees.

Für Benjamin war sofort klar was er sich als Motiv auf seiner Klinge vorstellt. Da mussten wir Ihn nicht lange von einem anderen Design überzeugen.
Es ist das Tattoo seines linken Unterarmes, das er gerne auf beiden Klingenseiten verewigt sehen möchte.
Das Tattoo ist ein sechseckiges Wabenmuster mit unterschiedlichen Grau- und Schwarzverläufen.
Dazu gesellt sich das Logo der Maerz Brüder und seinen Handschriftlichen Namen.
Wir von TYPEMYKNIFE haben die Designwünsche von Benjamin sehr gerne umgesetzt und freuen uns besonders dass wir Ihm damit ein persönliches Unikat geschaffen haben.

Benjamin chose the THE KNIFE by GÜDE knife with an olive wood handle.
A true masterpiece of Solingen blacksmithing and innovation.
GÜDE THE KNIFE is an enormous kitchen knife, almost only a blade. Pure steel in large dimensions.
The blade extends with the cutting edge to the rear pommel. The shape of the cutting edge is a gentle arc.
Made for weighing. The geometry is so balanced that the Massive is easy to carry.
